Pre-School students are introduced to the basic principles of acting in a light-hearted and accessible manner, teaching them the importance of concentration but using a combination of games and exercises to encourage enjoyment and confidence in the children.
Junior students use play and role-play to explore the different ways we can communicate with others. Students then move on to explore the techniques important for performance; learning to express themselves with empathy and engage with an audience.
Intermediate Drama classes explore how to approach text and how to build and explore character further. Students continue to develop their ensemble skills and are encouraged to challenge themselves more. The classes continue to work on improving speech, movement and posture as we believe this is of enormous benefit to the students in their everyday lives.
Senior Drama classes focus more on the individual as an actor, however, ensemble work still plays a large part in exploration. Students look at how they can develop their theatre skills and understanding of communicating to an audience. We explore the specific techniques of practitioners, we continue to work on improving speech, movement and posture, which we believe are essential for our students in the way they communicate in life. Students take personal responsibility for rising to the challenges offered, whilst always being encouraging of others.
